Delivering a Sustainable Future

Materials and the Environment

Eco Homes, BREEAM and the Code for Sustainable Homes set strict standards for materials to be used. The following issues need to be addressed:

  • Material types need to be selected with their embodied energy and associated CO2 emissions.
  • Environmental certification

These need to be considered as early as possible in the design process to ensure that cost effective and appropriate materials are used. Supply chain discussions must also be undertaken as soon as possible. We have a detailed knowledge of the BRE's Green Guide to Housing Specification and are able to advise developers accordingly.

Looking Ahead

Time never stands still and our consultancy constantly looks to the future to ensure we are aware of future technologies and associated social issues that affect homes and their communities. We do not make predictions, but look at the outcomes that can influence the decisions for the future. Our intention is to stimulate action today to allow for the full realisation of available research and emerging technologies.

Our report 'Foresight for Housing' looks at housing over a 20-year timescale.
