We are delighted that the planning application for replacement lighting at Northwood Tennis Club received approval from the London Borough of Hillingdon (LBH) last week. We supported the Tennis Club in its application for advanced, energy efficient lighting that balanced the needs of the club while taking the local residents and arboricultural constraints into account. We combined our planning knowledge with our environmental expertise in areas such as lighting and ecology.

The club will now be able to offer evening lighting levels recommended by the Lawn Tennis Association as part of a scheme designed to minimise light pollution. This was achieved through a reduction in light column height, positioning of columns to minimise spill, use of strategically placed defectors, ability to individually light courts, restricted hours of use and the development of natural screening around the club perimeter.

The club provides a valuable local sporting facility for adults and children alike. We are pleased to have been able to assist a local organisation such as this.
