We have been involved with Berkeley Homes’ Royal Arsenal Riverside development (RAR) in Woolwich for over 10 years, and look forward to our continuing involvement with the scheme, ensuring it remains a sustainable community.

Construction at RAR is set to continue until 2030 with more homes and commercial spaces to be built over a series of phases. One of these phases is the refurbishment of two of the site’s grade II listed buildings. These are being assessed against the BREEAM criteria and are targeting a range of BREEAM ratings on account of the constraints due to their listed status. On completion the refurbished Buildings 10 and 11 will offer a mix of commercial units, attractive public space and 146 high-quality new homes. The buildings are due to complete in time for the opening of the on-site Crossrail station, which opens in late 2018.

Berkeley Homes is also progressing detailed proposals for the next phase of the Waterfront buildings; these are a key part of the masterplan vision for Royal Arsenal Riverside. Construction for these buildings is due to commence in late 2017 with completion expected in 2024.

In addition to this, Berkeley has designed and begun the construction of a large landscaped waterfront park, the size of 13 Olympic swimming pools, which will establish an enhanced green link connecting the Royal Arsenal and Woolwich town centre to the River Thames. It will be the first park in the country to be assessed against the BREEAM Infrastructure criteria. The construction of this park will be phased ensuring that there will always be publicly-accessible green space and is due to complete in 2030.

We look forward to continuing our work with Berkeley Homes on these projects.
