Daylight and sunlight analysis

A Daylight and Sunlight Report is often required for planning by local authorities to demonstrate how development proposals may affect the levels of daylight and sunlight of surrounding development. The analysis can also demonstrate that the proposals themselves will be sufficient lit internally by daylight.

We are able to undertake daylight and sunlight analysis for planning. We also use the findings as evidence for Code for Sustainable Homes and BREEAM assessments.

We carry out 3D computer modelling to simulate sunpaths from different seasons. Our computer outputs provide visual and numerical analysis.

The British Standards provides minimum Average Daylight Factors (ADF) which should be met in habitable spaces, in order to ensure new residents benefit from sufficient levels of daylight. These levels correspond with the daylight levels stated in the Code for Sustainable Homes and BREEAM.
