BREEAM is the leading environmental assessment method for non residential buildings.
BREEAM uses nine categories to assess the sustainable design features of non residential buildings. The buildings then score on a scale and achieve a certificate showing Pass, Good, Very Good, Excellent and Outstanding.
In July 2011 BREEAM New Construction was issued for all new buildings to update BREEAM in line with Building Regulations 2010.
EcoHomes was developed and launched in April 2000 by the Centre for Sustainable Construction at BRE with support from National House Builders Council (NHBC). Since May 2008, new dwellings in England have been assessed under the Code for Sustainable Homes, but EcoHomes is still used to assess new dwellings in Scotland and refurbishments in England.
EcoHomes is due to be phased out and replaced by BREEAM Domestic Refurbishment in early 2012.
We have achieved certification for all BREEAM and EcoHomes levels for a broad range of commercial building types and domestic refurbishments. We can adapt to all types of requirements from shell and core initial assessments on a grade 2 listed buildings to full assessments on large hotels. We provide all the necessary tools and guidance for developers to achieve the required rating.
Ecohomes assessments are carried out by Wendy Hodkinson and Michael Sturdy; BREEAM assessments are carried out by Samantha Walkden and Michael Sturdy.
