Dynamic thermal modelling

We use Hevacomp Dynamic Simulation software to model dwellings and commercial units against local recorded weather data. The dynamic simulation provides a more sophisticated analysis of a building than is possible with standard compliance software.

We use the simulation software for the following applications:

Summer overheating risk assessments to meet Building Regulations Part L requirements and maximise thermal comfort;

  • The greater functionality of this software allows more features to be modelled than the SAP / SBEM overheating calculations enable;
  • We can test strategies and advise the design team on measures (e.g. solar control glazing or enhanced ventilation) to minimise the overheating risk and promote thermal comfort for occupants;

Space heating and cooling load calculations with varying external conditions and taking account of any passive or active ventilation.
