Code for Sustainable Homes, Eco Homes and BREEAM set strict standards for materials to be used. The following issues need to be addressed:

• Material types need to be selected with their embodied energy and associated CO₂ emissions.
• Environmental certification through approved schemes

These need to be considered as early as possible in the design process to ensure that cost effective and appropriate materials are used. Supply chain discussions must also be undertaken as soon as possible. We have a detailed knowledge of the BRE’s Green Guide to Housing Specification and are able to advise developers accordingly.
