Building User Guides can reduce operational energy use and provide savings through effective use of the building and its systems. They allow the achievement of a BREEAM credit and also provide occupants with easily accessible, non-technical information to allow them to use the building efficiently and without difficulty.

The Building User Guide is separate to the Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Manual, which contains technical information required for the operation, maintenance, decommissioning and demolition of the building. O&M Manuals (also known as Building Occupier’s Manuals) are often a requirement of the preliminaries section of tender documentation and should be produced for all major developments. We have expert knowledge and experience in the production of Building User Guides and O&M Manuals.

A Building User Guide is specific to the building and provides useful information on the environmental strategy, use of services including heating and lighting, access and security procedures, safety and emergency information, local transport facilities and local amenities. It aims to bridge the knowledge gap between the building occupants and designers.
