We’re delighted to share that Hodkinsons is working alongside PBSA and Build to Rent developer Dandara on City Wharf, a landmark student accommodation scheme in Glasgow that has now achieved an interim (Design Stage) BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating.
This prestigious certification from the Building Research Establishment (BRE) reflects Dandara’s strong commitment to sustainability, delivering energy-efficient homes, enhancing biodiversity, and prioritising resident wellbeing.
Originally targeting a ‘Very Good’ rating, Hodkinsons collaborated closely with Dandara (in partnership with Gamuda Land UK) and the wider design team to surpass expectations. Together, we secured a BREEAM UK New Construction (Design Stage) Interim rating of ‘Excellent’, achieving a score of 75.95% on the PBSA block. This typically places City Wharf among the top 10% of UK New Construction projects. The development excelled in key categories including Energy (89% of credits achieved), Land Use and Ecology (85%), and Pollution (83%).
We’re excited to continue our involvement through the As Built BREEAM stage and are also supporting Dandara with Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Circular Economy strategies, further reinforcing the project’s sustainability credentials. Construction is significantly advanced, with Practical Completion targeted for Q3 2026.
