What Industry Thinks Circular Economy Needs To Progress

We were invited to participate on Building Insights LIVE roundtable on Circular Economy. The participants explored the challenges and opportunities for adopting the circular economy in UK construction. The discussion brought together developers, designers, manufacturers and policy teams to share knowledge on prioritising the circular economy.

The group discussed the need for a clearer definition of circularity, practical data sharing processes, appropriate financing, and practical solutions for material reuse. The final report is currently being written up and will be available at https://insights.netmagmedia.co.uk/

Ideas that we took away from the event that can be built on to help address these challenges include:

• Nationwide policy harmonisation,
• Material passports or knowledge sharing platforms,
• Improved knowledge and access to funding,
• Home user guides to help educate home owners,
• Manufacturer takeback schemes.

The group agreed that deep collaboration across the entire supply chain was essential in helping construction play its part.
