Clockwise Southampton is located in Mountbatten House, one of the city’s most prestigious landmark offices. Hodkinsons were appointed to undertake a BREEAM Refurbishment and Fit Out Assessment for the recent refurbishment of this Georgian building into an office space.

Originally targeting a BREEAM rating of Very Good, Hodkinsons worked with the design team to improve on this requirement and secure a final BREEAM rating of Excellent. A BREEAM rating of Excellent is only achieved by the top 10% of UK refurbishment or fit-out projects, demonstrating the exemplar performance of this project.

Hodkinsons focused on creating a BREEAM strategy that focused on optimising material use across the project, maximising credits in both Materials and Health and Wellbeing.  Products were selected to reduce their life cycle environmental impacts through the use of robust life cycle environmental assessment tool (One Click LCA) and to create a healthy internal environment through the assessment of all internal finishes and fixtures. The refurbishment works also demonstrated some innovative Circular Economy principles, including pieces of furniture made from marine waste and the reuse of existing carpet tiles, services and lifts.
