Jonny joined Hodkinson in 2022 as a Graduate Energy Consultant, after completing a Master’s in Energy and Sustainability from the University of Southampton. His current role involves energy strategy optimisation, energy and tariff modelling, and technical reporting. Jonny is an associate member of the Energy Institute and is working towards chartership. In January 2026 he became a senior consultant.

In his three years at Hodkinson, he has worked in a number of energy-related service areas. He is well versed in navigating local and regional planning policy and appreciates the importance of embedding appropriate design principles at this stage. Jonny’s work always begins with a fabric-first approach. He works with design consultants to optimise fabric energy efficiency for buildings. This involves a number of different solutions and systems across multiple construction types. His understanding of heating systems, particularly heat networks, allows him to provide robust advice on the suitability of heating options for developments of varying sizes and timescales. This requires a holistic approach, involving balance between commercial, environmental, regulatory and planning drivers, whilst keeping the needs of the end user at the forefront.
