Matthew is Operations Director at Hodkinson Consultancy with extensive experience advising developers, asset owners, housing providers and managing agents on all aspects of energy strategy, heat networks and building performance. He specialises in the technical, commercial and regulatory optimisation of heating and cooling strategies, supporting clients from early-stage concept design through to procurement, commissioning, operation and long term asset management.

Working for heat network owners, Matthew leads multi-disciplinary teams delivering complex Contract Energy Management and ESCO tenders, technical due diligence reviews, feasibility assessments and tariff modelling. He has a strong track record in resolving legacy network issues, improving operational performance and helping clients navigate emerging regulatory requirements under the Heat Network Market Framework.

He also leads teams advising development projects from concept to completion, helping clients navigate planning and regulatory demands while driving environmental performance and ensuring solutions are practical, deliverable and beneficial for all building users.

Matthew has been with the company since 2012 and is a Chartered Environmentalist and Member of the Energy Institute.
